Russian farms to use SmartArgo systems and unmanned aerial vehicles in 201713.03.2017
The Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF) and the Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Agriculture have developed a road map to implement information technologies in the national agricultural sector.
Creation of the legal framework for using drones in agriculture will get started in the third quarter of this year. Farmers will get specific radio frequencies for information exchange, and agricultural enterprises will receive cartographic and meteorological data related to their land.
Unmanned aerial vehicles that support GPS and GLONASS will allow:
- aerosurveying for planning agricultural activities;
- applying fertilizers to required areas;
- controlling the growth of crops;
- treating them with chemicals;
- gathering data to forecast the productivity of land in the future.
Except drones, national agricultural enterprises will be supplied with SmartArgo systems that enable monitoring the growth conditions of plants thanks to sensors, irrigation control systems and fertilizing machines. They will help to bring to life the principles of precision farming and allow increasing yields by 10-15%.back to list
