Chips with alcohol sensors sold at the Super Bowl
31.01.2017
Fans of American football buy lots of snacks and beer while visiting the Super Bowl, and get behind the wheel afterwards. To reduce the number of accidents associated with it, Tostitos created chips packages with embedded alcohol sensors.
It’s enough to breathe on the package for its sensors to define the amount of alcohol. In case of excess, the image on the package will turn red, giving a warning sign and offering a $10 discount for Uber services.
Tostitos will produce 25000 packages of chips for the Super Bowl 2017.
In 2015, 45 people died because of drunk driving after the Super Bowl. That’s a half of all fatal crashes that happened on that day.
